On February 16, 2024, the next edition of the Alba Rosa Viva! Festival takes place in Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam.
For the fifth time, the biennial Alba Rosa Viva! Festival takes place around the work of the Italian composer and violinist Alba Rosa Viëtor (1889-1979). This time with a very special chamber music top trio: recorder player Erik Bosgraaf, pianist Ralph van Raat and the young double bassist Sasha Witteveen. They play solo and as a duo and ultimately end up as a trio with a new work by composer Willem Jeths. A concert with a festival atmosphere full of unheard of combinations and surprising music.
In addition to a concert evening, this evening is also the final of the Alba Rosa Viëtor Composition Competition. It will happen to you as a young composer that your work will be heard next to a new piece by Jeths, playful recorder pieces by Jacob van Eyk and compositions by celebrated female composers. An expert jury consisting of the composers Willem Jeths, Mathilde Wantenaar, Elena Firsova, Judith Weir and artistic director Reinild Mees chooses the winner. The public can vote for the Audience Award. After the concert there will be a festive awards ceremony.
