Alba Rosa Viva! 2018
Programme book
The third festival was a cooperation with Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and took place on December 2nd, 2018. This time the theme was the outspoken compositions of female composers. Artistic leader Reinild Mees selected a programme including Clara Schumann, Henriëtte Bosmans, Cécile Chaminade, Rosy Wertheim, Alma Mahler, Alba Rosa Viëtor and Tansy Davies, the composer in residence from the Concertgebouw.
The programme also included works by Karl Weigl (the teacher of Rosy Wertheim), Willem Jeths, Gabriel Fauré and Franz Schubert. The musicians were a.o. Karin Strobos (mezzo soprano), Harriet Krijgh ( cello), Ella van Poucke (cello), Niek Baar (violin), Thomas Beijer (piano), and the Dudok String Quartet. On this occasion the Alba Rosa Viëtor composition prize was specifically awarded for a composition for soprano and pianotrio. The four shortlisted compositions were performed by the Amatis Trio and the singers Lilian Farahani and Katharine Dain.
The first prize was awarded to Silvia Lanao Aregay from Spain and the “audience-prize” to Ramin Amin Tafreshi from Iran. Leo Samama gave a lecture on female composers and Tansy Davies was interviewed by Vrouwkje Tuinman.
