The first festival took place on September 28, 2014 in the Leeuwenbergh in Utrecht. On this first occasion, Alba Rosa Vietor’s works received special attention, as this year happened to be her 125th birthday. Her songs, chamber music and orchestral works have been performed by, among others, the Storioni Trio, the singers Laetitia Gerards and Maria Fiselier and the Utrecht Student Concert led by Bas Pollard.
Works by Rebecca Clarke, Clara Schumann, Ravel, Britten, Bernstein and Poulenc were also performed.
There was a concert by junior musicians, an improvisation workshop led by RobijnTilanus, a lecture on the life of Alba Rosa and the performance of the works of the finalists for the composition prize, won by the 23-year-old composer Mathilde Wantenaar with her composition called “Sprookjes” performed by Merel Vercammen and Tobias Borsboom.
